Competition Car Rentals
Motorsport started for me before I can remember. My father Owen was away over the 1979-1980 rally seasons servicing for Alan Mitchell
in the CRC RS1800 escort, and I was taken out of school to watch as they had a chance of winning the international rally finishing in
Manukau City that season. I soon started servicing too, helping out cousins and friends while still in school. Not long after I started
building my own mark 2 escort for hill climbs, rally sprints and dirt track racing. Being competitive was a struggle to start with,
but after starting an apprenticeship with John Deere Tractors - enabling use of their workshop, and Papakura Ford's parts sponsorship,
I soon found myself 2nd overall in the Waiuku Dirt Track club's rally sprint series. From there I raced in the Pukekohe Car Club and
Escort Car Club too. I built another mark 1 escort mexico for dirt track use only, and rebuilt the mark 2 into a RS2000 replica.
I used this to enter historic rallys in 1999 and 2000 following the international entries in the World Rally Championship's NZ event.
After selling the cars, service van and karts, I bought a house in 2001 and Premier Auto Services in 2002. Starting over again,
I built 'niscort' in 2003, a dirt track car in 2005, and purchased my cousins ex-works mark 2 RS in 2007. I found I now had all
aspects of sedan racing covered - classic, circuit, rally and dirt track.
I started Classic Rally Rentals to give people an opportunity to race these cars, that they would otherwise never experience.
